JILL KENNEY
Jill Kenney grew up dancing in Rhode Island, studying dance under the direction of Lisa Mailloux and also at the Newport Academy of Ballet. In 2001, She earned her a degree in dance from Dean College where she was also awarded the Gregory Hines Tap Scholarship and the Trustee’s Prize in Dance. Soon after, she relocated to New York to study various forms of dance with an emphasis on tap. Jill has performed for Disney Cruise Lines, LG Electronics, Dancin’ on Common Ground, and an opening act for Omar Edwards’ Tap Dancing is Music. She has had the opportunity to perform choreography by Jeff Edmond, Jared Grimes, Garrett Minniti, Shea Sullivan, and Danny Wallace.Currently Jill is working as Germaine Salsberg’s tap assistant at Steps on Broadway and Broadway Dance Center. She also dances in Salsberg’s company, Les Femmes, which has performed for Tap City at Lincoln Center and Symphony Space, Tradition in Tap, Boston Celebrates Tap at the Regent Theatre, and Fridays at Noon at the 92nd St Y. Jill is also a founder member of FOLKTAP.
JULIE GARCIA
Julie is currently pursuing her Masters in Dance Education at New York University and is a current company member of Germaine Salsberg’s tap dance company, Les Femme and Carlos Doñán’s tap dance company, FOLKTAP. This year, Julie was asked to serve on the panel ‘living the dream’ for the National Dance Education Organizations national conference, has performed in various venues in Manhattan and Brook-lyn, and has taught master classes in Boston, Florida, and the New York City area. Julie has also presented various workshops at Jacksonville University, La Villa School of the Arts, Dansations, and the Florida Thespian States Festival. She has performed for the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra, at the Cummer Museum, Conservatorio Statale Di Musica and La Pietra in Florence, Italy. She has trained extensively with Douglas Dunn, Germaine Salsberg, Cari Coble, Deborah Damast, Frederick Curry, Dana Michaels, and the director of Manhattan Tap Company, Heather Cornell. Receiving national recognition for her choreography, teaching, and performances, Julie’ s most rewarding experience has been her instruction to all age groups and cultures.
SHEILA POMROY
Sheila began her training in Newfoundland, Canada where she studied Ballet, Tap, Jazz and Modern under the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing. She also studied intensively with Sue Fae Healey Irish Dancers in Ottawa. After successfully completing a teaching associate under the I.S.T.D. she continued her studies in New York, completing programs at Broadway Dance Center and concentrating on Irish Dance with Niall OLeary. She regularly performs at Irish festivals and competitions throughout the United States, Canada and Ireland and is founder member of FOLKTAP.
KRISTINA CARBERRY
Kristina Carberry grew up dancing at Nancy Chippendale’s Dance Studios in North Andover, Massachusetts. She received her Bachelor’s degree from New York University’s Gallatin School of Individualized Study. Since moving to New York City she has studied tap extensively with Derick K. Grant and Lynn Schwab. In addition to dancing with FOLKTAP, she also dances in Xander Weinman’s Sophisticated Sounds and Adam Metzger’s SLURP. As a member of these three tap companies, Kristina has had the opportunity to perform at venues such as Don’t Tell Mama, Steps on Broadway, Symphony Space, Fairlawn Community Center, The Tank, and more.
